Hotel Akureyri

The room was really tiny. The bathroom is to tiny that it’s impossible to even change inside. The shower can’t even bend down to wash legs.

The room was quaint and the location to town was perfect. However beware there is major construction on site and across the street BLOCKING your "harbor view". We booked this room Jan 2023 and followed up with the property July 2023. We were never notified about the construction. We were going to cancel our second night and expressed our concerns to Michael and was told "good luck finding another property." So disappointed.

Great location in Akureyri with some great restaurants a short walk away. Rooms are on the small side but nicely decorated. Hotel could use better TV service as all 3 of our rooms were unable to watch for 2 nights. Staff was very friendly. Please note that this hotel operates electronically with staff available via phone. Also, breakfast is not included.

In my opinion the best hotel in Akureyri, by far. Beautiful outside snd inside, All the details and the wonderful restaurant, North, downstairs in Skjaldborg (where I had a lovely breakfast.. later dinner hopefully) Service so good and all made so easy and comfortable. Great little things as good tea selection, free soda and chocolate. I will be back 😃

Soo over on way to Grimsey Island. Very comfortable and a free mini bar is a bonus! Only issue would be the size of the room. Couldn’t open my clam type case unless I put it on the bed. The smoked trout breakfast however is fantastic!! Recommended

This is a quirky family run hotel, and first impressions were good. We stayed in the building that was once a cinema, and the styling of the entrance and the hallway was on theme and quite well done. Our room was quite small - although the largest in that particular part of the hotel - and was fine for our needs. The first impression when walking in was great, but when we looked closer we realised how dusty the room was. It looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for weeks. With so much quirky styling in the room, it appears that the staff don't move anything when cleaning it. It was strange to have electronic check-in and check-out, but the code-entry to the room was easy and actually great to not have to remember your key all the time. Compared to many hotels in Iceland, this was far more affordable, and provided probably the best value for money of our whole trip.

Hotel was good and cozy. The breakfast good, but way too expensive. Not a buffet and maybe not even related to the hotel. Check-in and out was completely automated. Good parking place next to the hotel. Maybe in a year or so the view from the hotel will diminish as a new building covers the nice view.

So originally, we booked the Hrafninn House and when we arrived, it looked great- a small room in a quaint house. Shortly after we arrived, we noticed there was something wrong with the toilet and we called the contact number for assistance. The woman that answered gave us a new room - an apartment at the hotel. It was great- clean and comfortable with a fantastic view. We would stay again given the prompt attention to the issue and the clean and comfortable rooms.

We were feeling a tad scrunched when we checked into our room, but when I called to ask for a bigger one, we were told, "you have the biggest room in the hotel". Love the entry in which an old film is always playing on a TV monitor. Decor is funky all about. Was excited to see a small record player and some vinyl in our room, but there was no stylus on the record player. Nice breakfasts and other goodies located a short walk away in the next building.
