So so hotel

This was my favorite hotel during recent travel in Colombia. Accommodations are excellent, the roof terrace is spectacular, and the people friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Compliments to José and Paula in reception, and Loraine in the restaurant for outstanding hospitality and service.

The safe deposit box didn't work but when I asked the FD person to give me another room (I had just checked in), she sent a maintenance person. He connected power to the safety deposit box but didn't ensure that the door was operational. I then had to leave the hotel and risk leaving my valuables in the room. Other than that, the breakfast is great and the mattress was wonderful (on the hard side rather than fluffy).

Shower was dirty , and had no door so if ac is on you will freeze while u shower even using hot water . The bed had hair on it . The sheets looked stained not upkept . The hall way had weird old smell . The staff are very nice . Ordered room service the burger and fries super dry .we even checked out a day before and they didnt ask us how are stay was .

The staff and breakfast are incredible. The rooftops pools are very nice. It seems like a safe neighborhood. The beds are a bit hard and things need a little updating. Our floor was in pretty bad shape. The housekeeping also doesnt reatock coffee.

People make the place and the people at NH Barranquilla Collection are the absolute best. From Carol at the front desk to concierges Campo and Orozco, to the restaurant staff and the cleaning folks, the staff at NH are phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. The hotel is very nice. Clean. Orderly. Extremely well-run. While there are those who complain about the size of the pool or the gym, both are exactly what the hotel needs. Those wanting to work out can absolutely get it done in the gym while the pool is really there to cool off, relax and enjoy a dip. The main thing, however, is the staff. As a Spanish speaker, I had no problems whatsoever. Those who speak English only should also have no problems as there are more than enough staff who speak English and who can help in communications. Other than at carnaval, no one is ever going to confuse Barranquilla with a tourist hot-spot. The hotel, however, is really an oasis in the urban jungle and is convenient to the places tourists should see, especially the malecon. Still it is the staff that makes the place and, again, they are phenomenal. Anyone going to Barranquilla could make no better choice than to stay at NH Barranquilla.

It was an okay stay. There are two minor pools on top (the fact on top is great) one of them is a Jacuzzi. I saw 3 rooms in the Hotel, all was kind a different from the appearance and features. My room didn't had a hairdryer (I am sure when I asked for it I would have get one). Also the shower had no view protection to the bed which was there in other rooms (also like the hair dryer). Breakfast was good, as European you miss the butter for the bread. Elsewise the kitchen does freshly a small portion of eggs as you wish. Reception was professional and kind, also dealing with an major issue in the room was very professional cared by the staff. We did park with a car and had always a place in the garage. Directly in front is a McDonalds, some Restaurants and malls are close, at night better to use a car (as always in Colombia).
