Kind of disappointed by this stay. Have never had a problem with a Holiday Inn Express before.
To start, reservations were a mess. Someone in our group called several days ago to book two rooms, but had a very hard time communicating with the person on the phone (because of the hotel employee’s broken English), so we called to confirm we had two rooms for the night. They said no. So I booked a separate reservation (through *******). No big deal. When we got there, though, they told us he did indeed have two rooms. They let us cancel one so didn’t end up being a huge deal, just very inconvenient.
When I got to my room it immediately smelled like smoke, and the carpet was nasty. I called down to let them know about the issues hoping they offer to switch rooms (they were not full), but they just said sorry we will make a note of it.
All in all, not the worst hotel experience ever, but a very disappointing stay for $150 in a respectable hotel brand.
