Gooderson Bushlands Game Lodge

We wanted a bush experience and we got that, together with some added comfort and feel good safety.. The lodge is a wonderful place to get away and really good value for money.

I planned a vacation to go for a game drive and so I booked at this place since they advertised game drive trips. When I got there however I couldn't go for a game drive because the staff gave me stories each time I wanted to book a game drive. As a result therefore I my vacation was finished without a single game drive. Bed sheets were also filthy stained

Peaceful, Quiet, Relaxing. Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Management went out of there way to help us. Loved the viewing deck, perfect place to relax with a good book. Bush baby feeding was amazing, got to see 3 bush babies feeding. Cant wait to come back

Fantastic staff who very efficiently managed our last minute booking. Very peaceful place to stay with lovely bush all around you. The self catering lodges look new and are well set up except that the cars were parked right in front of our outdoor seating area which spoilt the feeling of sitting in the bush. The main area and viewing deck are a nice idea and could be lovely but are quite run down and need some attention.

We spent amazing 6 nights at Gooderson Bushlands and we really loved the location, the habitat, the forest trails...It was great to explore the bush, search for small animals and encounter some larger ones during that. Food was delicious and plentiful! Rooms are very cozy and comfortable. Amazing place!

Extremely disappointed. Altho the staff were very friendly and helpful, the place was rundown and tatty. Bath towels were so frayed they are only good for use as cleaning rags. They also smelt terribly musty. Sheets were also musty smelling and made me wonder whether they were clean. The whole bedroom had been sprayed with an uncomfortably overpowering airfreshener, I gathered they were trying to disguise a bad smell. Bar area needs serious attention - stuffed animals are dusty and disintegrating, chairs are broken and torn. Meals were tasty, however very disappointed that there was no game featured on the menu - afterall, you're at a "game" Lodge? I do understand that this is a lodge and should be rustic, but there's a difference between rustic and rundown. There was no sign of any management as I really would have liked to have spoken to someone before I left. Sorry Bushlands Game Lodge, not rushing back to you in a hurry.

A wonderful place to go and just relax. The wildlife is amazing and it is at your front doorstep. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The units are neat and clean with alot to go and see and do in close proximity.

We did a family trip to this resort for the weekend. The staff and meals were absolutely amazing. The initial room(Wooden cabin) we were placed in was in terrible shape. It had not been properly cleaned and was clearly aged and weathered. Fortunately there was a standard double room available that reception staff moved us to. Although it was not the best, it was far better than the cabin. This room also needs a serious renovation,and I'm almost positive that all the rooms in this Lodge need that renovation too. Although this Lodge is a 3-Star, I would rate the accommodation side at a 2 star. Great concept for a bush experience but unfortunately the infrastructure was probably in its prime in the 90s or early 2000s. Hats off to the staff for being so amazing though and the food was also excellent. I'm sure this is what pushes up the ratings of this Lodge.

What an amazing place. Imagine a hotel in the middle of a safari park, which has zebra, giraffe, monkey, Nyala deer, duiker, mongooses and bushbabies coming and going around you. If you go on the Nyala walk, you will definitely meet somebody! And if you sit at the water hole overlook, you are guaranteed to see something cool. The welcome from the staff is exceptional, the food is plentiful and excellent, and the accommodation clean and tidy. We loved it. If you want to really experience South Africa in all its variety and character, you can't do better than Gooderson Bushlands. I wish I could go back!
