Capitol Plaza Hotel Montpelier, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The hotel just reopened after a catastrophic local flood. Staff were really nice and explained the few hiccups they were still having. We appreciated understanding and that they pushed to open for the eclipse rather than cancel bookings. Nice hotel and I think will be really good once they get up and going again.

After raving to family about J Morgan's for 4 years, in June 2023 I brought my brother, his wife, and 2 adult grandkids there for lunch. I built expectations to prepare for the best garlic bread they'd ever had. I told the hostess that I had driven 1,438 miles to dine there, especially the garlic bread which we all love. Olivia, our waitress, brought some right away and the groans of delight commenced. They all agreed and validated my 4 years of raving. Three of us also had the Vermonter salad - delicious! The grandson applauded the lobster mac and the granddaughter said the Crazy BLT was delicious. J Morgan's is a must visit when I am in Vermont. If you are a garlic bread lover be prepared for your expectations elevated to an unmatched level, all other garlic bread will pale in comparison. I wish I had taken photos but I was so enraptured by delicious food that I completely forgot. Olivia was a delight, thank you for your excellent customer care!

We stayed here on our New England road trip night before our Ben and Jerry’s factory tour. Great location, easy to interstate entrance. Rooms very clean, great architecture. Kids loved the small old elevator with a ringing bell at each floor. Met the new owners today and they bought our breakfast. As I understand it is usually ala Carte items that you can charge to the room. The fresh grilled paninis were delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

Stopped here for a night. Easy to find and just a couple of minutes off the interstate. Checking in that night was easy and the woman at the front desk was amazing...wish I could recall her name. She was genuinely happy and it's so contagious. The hotel itself doesn't look like a Hilton, it's an old converted hotel and has some character to it. It does also make it a little different as we had to use the elevator outside of the bank at the end of the building. Our room was updated and and was really good. Great views of the town and the bathroom was impressive. Great location for a quick visit as it's a block across from the capital building and a short walk to the downtown shops. Would stay here again for sure.

I arrived in the parking lot which I was charged 12 dollars for parking. Meanwhile the front desk was not charging other guest as per conversations heard while checking in. The attendant at the front desk charged me for water but was giving other guest as they checked in free waters. I definitely felt uncomfortable and will never go back seems like the lady was definitely treating me differently for some strange reason. Also overcharged me for some snacks 15 bucks for a bag of chips and a chocolate bar. Also the hvac unit barely could keep the room cool

We made a last minute reservation as our Air BnB was not anywhere as nice as was advertised. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming and helped by quickly explaining the parking and layout of the hotel. We went up to our very clean room and everything worked as intended down to the thermostats! We then had to leave a day early and although the manager didn't have to rebate our last day, she did which was greatly appreciated.

For my 2 week stay during a hospital assignment as a physician, I was booked in a "deluxe king room with a fancy shower - unfortunately through another service. I got an outdated room looking over a parking lot, the roar of a noisy HVAC on the roof of the building underneath me, and the room's broken HVAC unit. The shower spewed water everywhere and I almost fell getting out. After a couple of miserable nights of sleep, I thought, "That's ok, I'm still a diamond member right and we're talking a 2-week stay costing $3,306.82 - My wife and I can upgrade". Yes, but the upgrade would be $1428.57. We asked, perhaps a discount off the $1,428.57 charge for the hassle. No. How about if we leave early? No. Comp breakfast? No (normally $30/day). Discounted parking - No. They just don't care. I talked to 4 different people at various levels of management. No luck. The hospital will hit me up for maybe $700 of the additional charge. Worse yet, the hotel was practically empty. If they had booked through Hilton I would have checked out immediately but I was trapped because of the booking. Just because the booking didn't go through Hilton.com doesn't mean they should treat you poorly. It is a shame that I had to give them money. And shame on Hilton for using out-of-site booking as a punishment to get people to use their site for booking. In terms of Hilton, luckily there is competition. On that note, I work in the hospital on an every two-week schedule. So I plan to cancel the next booking and move the next $3500 to a competitor that has never treated me this way, even when I had to use an outside booking agent. I've been staying at this hotel for years. The property is now associated with Hilton. The good news is that most of the rooms have been freshened up with new furniture and carpet. The bad news is that the restaurant is no longer open for breakfast. For breakfast, you are now directed to a storefront located adjacent to the hotel called The Morning Market. It was a very disappointing breakfast. Half of what was advertised as being on the menu wasn't available, and what was available was subpar. Frankly, I would like to be more impactful and use profanity to describe my experience, but I won't. You also now have to pay $12 to park in the lot behind the hotel, where before, it was free. Thank you Hilton.

It's an old building, so not what I would really think of as a Hilton property. Rooms were clean but you would never think it's a Hilton hotel. More like an economy type property. The person that checked us in was great. Sorry, but forgot her name. Fun personality. Very upbeat and positive. We were tired and didn't realize other options not far away.
