Odalys City Montpellier les Occitanes

Broken airconditioning and sleepless nights. I’ve been here nearly a week studying French. When the weather was cool my room was fine. I didn’t mind the towels not getting replaced because there’s a washing machine in the basement. But when it got warmer (mid 20s celcius) my room became like an oven. With the window open there is a lot of noise from the train station and taxis outside. This has lasted two nights. This is not a place to try to sleep.

Good location, functional and good breakfast. But corridors dirty, rooms not serviced / towels not replaced, only one pillow, urgently needs a refurbishment as very tired, some things broken (bed lights) and could be cleaner. Overall disappointing and not close to a 4 star property.

Beautiful property inside large common area patio. Always helpful and smiles by staff. Our room was very clean and up to date decor. I wanted to stay a few weeks after seeing room/property.

Superb location and amenities, great friendly staff. I was looking for an extended stay, booked a room for a month, but ended up staying for 6 months. Large clean beautiful room with large bathroom. Well equipped kitchenette with everything you need - induction cooker, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, ALL necessary utensils. The hotel has a washing machine for an extra charge. Very good location, a stone's throw from the tram stop, 50 m to the train station, 300 m to the central Comedy square. At the same time, the hotel is quiet and safe, there is a pleasant courtyard. We were very satisfied, I can safely recommend the hotel for both short and long stays. The only downside I can point out is the lack of a balcony. 9.5/10

I stayed at Montpellier's Appart'hotel Odalys Les Occitanes in October 2023. I loved so many things about the place. For example, the location is great, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the folks at the reception are friendly and very helpful. But I can't give the hotel a high rating because of one very important thing: Their front door is heavy and often stuck, making it difficult for most women to open it. Most men have no problem opening it. Take a moment and consider this problem. When you are traveling anywhere in the world, has it ever crossed your mind that the only entrance to the hotel may be impossible to enter because the door's too heavy? It's never crossed my mind. And it shouldn't. Entering your hotel easily is a pretty basic requirement of a hotel. After straining my back in trying to push the heavy door open, then having to stop a stranger on the street (to ask him to help me), I went to the reception to see if they could address the problem. Their hands were tied. Despite their sympathy, they could do nothing. Their only suggestion: Call us if you can't get in and someone will come to open it for you. Now take a moment to consider this: First, imagine you have travelled many hours to Montpellier, you arrive at night, you are jetlagged, and your phone doesn't work because you just landed and haven't had time to get a new SIM card. What are you supposed to do? I noticed to the left of the door, there is an intercom. But guess what? It's broken. Oh, and here's another issue. One night I returned to the hotel with another woman so together we could push the door open, but we noticed there was no one at reception. Probably had to attend to something else. So if that happens when you call, I guess you're out of luck. When I suggested a solution, "Prop the door open," I was told we can't do that for security reasons. So...any man from the street can push the door open but women cannot. So where's the security? And who is the security for? I want to stress that this problem is not caused by the wonderful people who work at the reception. They are frustrated as well by the door. It is the management of the hotel who needs to solve this problem. So for now, the Appart'Hotel Odalys is a great place for men but women beware.

I stayed here for 2 weeks while attending a French course. While well situated it is really well hidden with only very tiny signage and it is tricky to find. I wanted a private studio apartment where I could self cater and study quietly. The kitchinette was not particularly well equipped but adequate and there is zero cupboard space to store items that dont need refridgeration. That said the fridge and mini dishwasher were good. The oven was baffling and there were no instructions as to how to use it. The bed was comfortable but lacked basics like mattress and pillow protectors which I think is important post covid. The bathroom was large but tired and grubby in places Be aware that if staying for any length of time you will need to supply items like toilet paper as they only provide 2 thin rolls per week 😂. The reception staff are very unwelcoming and rude. ( I speak French reasonably well so it was not a language issue). When I arrived the person behind reception kept me waiting while he shuffled papers and did not even say hello! Another member of staff ranted at me when I made a polite enquiry as to whether breakfast was included in the price because I had booked via the language school so I was not sure. This morning I took the Odalys breakfast which I paid for the day before. My advice is go into town and take one of the many breakfast formulas many cafes offer, they are much better and cost less. Having returned to my room after breakfast reception called me and said I had to go to reception straight away to pay for my breakfast. I told them I had paid the day before but he insisted I had not and again was rude. Luckily I had a receipt I took to show him. For me this raises questions over their administrative effectiveness, Imagine if I wasnt able to fight my corner I would probably had to pay again! Finally the WiFi is OK but patchy, probably due to the number of users at any one time. Would I stay here again? Probably not and that is purely because of the rudeness displayed by all the staff I encountered at reception. There feels to be an overall reluctance on the part of reception staff to provide any information as to how things work at this aparthotel. eg when I purchased a breakfast no one thought ti tell me that it is served on the first floor etc just small things that make a guest’s stay a bit nicer It feels like an organisational culture issue or perhaps a lack of training. Other staff members have been lovely.

This was a great property! The room was so big and included a kitchen area with things like a microwave, stove and dishwasher, which were not amenities we were expecting! It is also a very short walk from one of the city's train stations as well as many of the tourist places! Highly recommend!

Everything was great, good location, literally right outside of the tram stop to make several different connections, walking distance to centre, staff were very nice, room was nice and big and clean... Only thing is the air conditioning system was very weak and couldn't cool the room properly. Everything else was great!

I found that this hotel is very comfortable, clean, and the staff are quite helpful. There are elevators, which is one thing I didn't expect at a typical European hotel. My room is spacious, with a mini kitchen where I could keep my foods. It's well equipped. There are supermarkets with great produce within a few minutes walk from here. The tram system is really cute. The major tourist sites and tourism office are all within walking distance. I stayed for a week and the room was serviced once as a rule for that length of stay. Quite acceptable. I would come back again.
