From the moment we stepped foot onto the grounds of Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, we were enveloped in this a**osphere of warmth, hospitality and serenity that truly caught us all off-guard. It was a very pleasantsurprise. Every member of the Fairmont family extended a warm and enthusiastic welcome, ensuring our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Our daughters were particularly enchanted (yes, I'm using the word "enchanted") by their experience, especially their visit to the animal orphanage. It was a joy to witness their faces light up with wonder and curiosity, with a touch of innocent fear as they interacted with the majestic creatures cared for there. The bongos and the lionesses had an especially unique impression on them, they still tell us stories as if we were not there:) Throughout our stay, every detail was meticulously attended to, leaving us free to simply relax and soak in the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. We enjoyed the food and the warmth we received from the team at the restaurant made our meal times that much more special. The cottage facing Mount Kenya was a nice touch, waking up to that every morning was simply ethereal! We created new memories here, we loved a bit more and bonded over little things we normally dismiss as mundane in daily life. The general environment and aura of Fairmont Mount Kenya allowed us to see the little things, the flowers, the special. Our time here will be cherished as a truly unforgettable experience, thanks to the unparalleled hospitality and unforgettable memories created by the dedicated team at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club. They are comfortable . So friendly. The rooms are well se and the mechanisms available to ensure that the effects of the weather don't affect the clients are good. The heating of the swimming pool makes it so easy to swim even in the coldest weather.

Having stayed here in 2012 we really wanted to come back and did so for three nights. We arrived at just before mid-day so the reception was quiet. We were taken to the outside seating area for the check in and a briefing on the hotel. The entrance is at a right angle to the main building so directions in this are as if you have gone through the reception and turned right 90 degrees. Given our early arrival (check in is normally from 14.00) the room was understandably not quite ready so we were shown to the bar’s outside seating area for a drink but it was not long before our room was ready. We had a suite which was on the first floor of the main building. It had a balcony with views across the grounds, to Mount Kenya and the Mount Kenya National Park. The room had all you would expect with the addition of the option to have an open fire in the evening to warm the room, plus hot water bottles. Given the temperature we are used to as home these options were not needed. We had a charge for room service when ordering drinks only, this we were told would not apply if food was ordered. Other rooms are in blocks to the left of the main building. I think there are covered walkways back to the main hotel although I noticed quite a few people walked between the hotel and the pool area to get to the restaurant. There are also a line of cottages to the right of the main hotel swinging around in an arc and down and to the left are the Riverside cottages. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant, which is at the left-hand end of the main building and is normally buffet style, with a chef to do your eggs however you want them. Clearly at busy times you may have to wait for the latter, although we had one early start and the chef brought them to our table. Lunch is served in the same place, whether it is a menu or buffet will depend on hotel occupancy levels. The same location is for dinner and the same applied, although with safari parties often arriving late afternoon there are more a lot more in for dinner than lunch. There is a glass enclosed seating area at the front of the restaurant which when hot can be opened up. Also portable heaters are available if they are needed in the evening. We found all the food very good and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The buffet choice is huge and should cater for all tastes and requirements. The Zebar next to the restaurant and in the center of the main building, drinks and snacks, this has an open-air seating area with sun shades, although staff may lower these if it is too windy. From observations items from the lunch menu are also served here. Staff from the Zebar also serve in the pool area, which is in front of the main hotel. Another dining option is the Colobus Restaurant, this is open Thursday to Sunday and needs to be booked. This is very much menu only and what some may call a fine dining experience. Our 2 week stay was amazing. So much to see and do on site. The Safari and Forest walk trips were extremely good. Our guide Francis was so knowledgable and we learnt so much from him. The Golf course caddies Richard and Mohene helped us immensely to improve our golfing techniques. Swimming, Croquet, Tennis, E bikes.. the list of things to do is endless. We were half board, Breakfast and Evening meal selections were the best we have ever seen at any hotel, so much choice of cuisine, to a very high standard. So 10 out of 10 to the whole Hotel Team… we will be back !

Charming place with impeccable service. The staff were lovely and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very comfy. It’s a nice added touch to have a fireplace. Multiple restaurant choices and the food was great! A great place to visit.

Staff were absolutely wonderful. The Fairmont would be nothing without them, they truly make it an amazing stay. Special mention to Christine from the animal orphanage, Agesa, Elizabeth, and the wonderful bar staff and welcoming hosts such as Martha and so many more ! They all made the stay brilliant. Also to Florence, the lovely lady in charge of our turn downs etc who went above and beyond to tidy our things and even folded our belongings in our suitcase. They help you with anything you need and more! and are very knowledgeable and kind.
