Travelodge by Wyndham Rapid City/Black Hills

The hotel had to move me to the econolodge for some unclear reason. They claimed they called me all day but I never received a call.

When we entered the property, the side door was propped open with a rock since the door was out of order. When we got to our room, the door was open. We figured out that the door did not fully close when let go, it had to be pulled shut. These two items did not make us feel safe. The room itself was clean. The complementary breakfast was ok, no meat was served.

The rooms had a funny smell to them, and the phones were broken. No buttons were on them when I tried to call the front desk to ask a question the TV remote was broken so we couldn’t watch the news when we got back to our room which I guess that’s not a big deal we could look it up on our phones, but we just wanted to relax and watch a little TV when we got back from our day. One of the rooms had a very strong odor, and we tried everything we could to dissipated, and nothing was working. When checking in I tried telling the person I had three reservation numbers and instead she asked my name and two were under my name, and one was under my dad‘s name and she was rude when I she tried to tell me I had two rooms when I did have three booked together. Also, the breakfast was terrible. There was no flavor to it and the only thing we ate was maybe some toast before we left for the day.

The hotel is clean and staff is excellent. Good location, close to gas stations, restaurants and *****tore. The rooms need some attention. The last time we stayed here the carpeting was torn in two places. This time the bathroom door was broken and would not close. The owner needs to fix the maintenance items or we will not be able to stay here again. Its really too bad. We like the hotel.

This property is old and dirty! The room smelled damp and dirty, the lamp didnt work, the bathroom vanity light cover was missing, the shower/tub water would not fully turn off, the picture over the bed was gone (empty screws on the wall!), and the carpet and chairs in the room were filthy.

I have a neutral rating for everything because we didn’t actually stay at this hotel. We experienced a catastrophic mechanical issue and were unable to make our stay. When I called to let the hotel know, I spoke to someone whose English was so poor we struggled to understand each other. He did say he would talk to a manager about waiving the no-show fee, and that the manager would call me back. I never received a call. When I tried to call back and talk to someone, the phone just rang and rang. The only communication I ever got from them was a charge on my credit card for the stay we couldn’t make. The negative service experience rating is based on my inability to even communicate with hotel staff to make my case. While I understand it was their right to charge me for the stay, I also consider it poor customer service in a situation that was beyond my control. Above and beyond is not a thing to expect at this hotel; even communicating is apparently a struggle for them, so I can’t even say they do the bare minimum. I will avoid booking Quality Inns in the future. It was terrible experience at a stressful time.

This is an overall disappointing hotel. They did not have the following: a pack-and-play for my infant daughter, a working hot tub (previous reviews have shown it to be out of order for over a year!), a microwave to heat up food, and adequate cleaning services. Our curtains were ripped, light bulbs in our room did not work, and there were stains on the bed sheets. I also did not feel safe here. Guests were constantly propping doors open with rocks (probably because their outside doors were out of order), there were large pictures that were not hung up on the wall properly (could have fallen on my 10 year old daughter) and we occasionally smelled **** or heard very noisy guests. I will give the woman behind the front desk credit because she did give me access to the kitchen to heat up my food, but this shouldn't be an issue if the hotel would provide consistent amenities. I will not be staying here again until the maintenance and management gets their sh!t together to fix these inconveniences for their guests.

Definitely needs to renovated. Dark and smelly. Mattresses were old! Definitely a place to stay as a poor college kid on a road trip.

We've stayed at quality inn's before and this one was very disappointing. The hotel was not very clean, we had to change our own trash, and we had to ask them for clean towels. We stayed for 5 nights, and we had to ask them to clean our room. Our room smelled like mildew. The breakfast was not pleasing either.
