Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

Ike our ranger was very knowledgeable and apart from lions we saw all the rest of the Big 5. Precious in the dining room was always happy. Rooms had lots of space. Outdoor shower and bed plus plunge pool were an added bonus.

We were a group of 11 people ( 5 couples and 1 single) visiting the lodge from the UK. What can I say except that we had the most wonderful experience staying at the lodge. We have stayed at many different lodges over the years and Hoyo Hoyo was up there as one of the best. The highlight had to be sitting in comfy chairs with cold beer and not 50 metres away watching a herd of elephant enjoying the waterhole. The staff were friendly, attentive and most helpful, we had an issue with our hire vehicle breaking down and the manager sorted out transport for our departure back to Joburg, further to this all of the staff gave a surprise birthday rendition to two of our party on our last night. So from all of us now back in the UK a big thank you for making our stay truly memorable at the Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

Jock Safari is an amazing property, the level of service from every single member of the team was outstanding. The food quality was above out expectations and our Safari guide was truly and expert in finding the animals through out the park.

This was our 6th safari holiday and our first in South Africa. We have travelled quite extensively in Kenya and to a lesser degree in Tanzania and a few days in Botswana. We have stayed at quite a few lodges and camps but without a shadow of doubt Jocks is certainly the best of the bunch. We were always reluctant to go to South Africa primarily because we felt that the game drives might be spoilt by too many vehicles jostling for position to view the animals. Following lots of research we opted for the Main Jock Lodge…..RIGHT CHOICE!! The food and service was superb and the accommodation, spacious, very comfortable and very private. I recommend spending a night (or at least a fair few hours) out in the private safe/covered viewing ‘hut’ that I understand each accommodation within the lodge has….Sheer bliss to doze off to the sounds of Africa. The game drives were excellent and our guide/driver Jacob was extremely knowledgeable, comical and clearly loved sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge. To state that he had remarkable eyesight is to put it mildly….how it was possible for him to spot a hand size chameleon in a leafy bush from many yards away whilst driving at night defies belief….all 5 of us in the jeep were in awe!! There were numerous other times when his telescopic eyesight made other drives extremely memorable. The fact that Jocks have a large private concession and exclusive rights in such a fine a location made a massive difference, it being rare that we ever saw any other vehicle during our drives and we were able to get extremely close to many animals. I could go on and on re’ how exceptional Jocks is but it can be summed up by the recommendation that you experience it for yourselves….We have booked to visit again and that is the first time that we have elected to revisit any camp or lodge…….. we are counting the days. Absolutely awful hotel/company. I unfortunately contracted malaria, and had a few nights booked at this hotel for my birthday which I had to cancel. As I was lying in hospital my girlfriend was calling up the hotel who stated that they could not delay our trip, and would not be giving us any of our money back. In fact they said that they were okay with the idea of us driving to the hotel and staying there whilst I had malaria, in effect putting all other guests at the hotel at risk. They are willing to put mine, and other guests safety at risk just so they can make a quick buck. If you're thinking of going I highly recommend you note the 30 day no refund policy, and that you are 100% certain that you will not have any serious matter come up around your dates as this hotel will not care and just take your money. The staff are rude and very unsympathetic.

Our whole experience from being collected at the airport to leaving was easily 5 star! Jan our ranger was knowledgeable, very friendly & so much fun! We enjoyed every moment of our game drives. He endeavoured to make every day different. We had a once in a lifetime experience, we saw lion cubs! All the staff are friendly & always greeted us smiles. Food was fabulous, be careful you will definitely leave slightly heavier. Rooms are superb with amazing views over the riverbed, we had elephant right outside our room…nothing like sitting back & watching them. Listening to the Jock choir at dinner was a real treat, it enhanced the whole experience. Can’t wait to get back!

Hoyo Hoyo is a place I would recommend to anyone wanting tranquility but also adventure. This lodge did a great job combining both of those qualities. My friend and I stayed in Room #5 which is the only room with a fruit tree on the porch. Highly recommend requesting this room because you'll see animals on your porch and it adds to the loveliness of this hidden oasis. Given was our daily meal and drink server and always had a smile and was very attentive to guests. Moshae was our Safari guide and knew so much about the animals and many other species located in Kruger. This lodge is located about 2.5 hours from the gate. The food was superb! Drinks very good and the food options were plentiful. They offered meats and also vegetarian options. The pool and relaxing deck area had great animal viewing opportunity. We saw a hyena at dinner every night, elephant came all the way up to the deck and there were Cape Buffalo. The safari vehicles are so comfortable and equipped with everything including blankets. Sundowner drinks were a lovely touch at sunset. Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant stay

Hoyo Hoyo created an incredibly immersive experience while maintaining a very high standard of customer service and luxury. The staff were very friendly and enjoyable to chat with while keeping the mood light. The Hoyo Hoyo Lodge specifically has a watering hole that has elephants coming to drink from regularly making even an everyday sit -down meal an entertaining adventure.
