My wife and I recently had a very nice stay at the Tälta Lodge. We liked its convenient location, clean rooms and bath, comfy bed, and friendly staff, who seem to genuinely want guests to have a great stay. We also enjoyed the hot tub, indoor pool and sauna. There's a boot room on the lower level with a dryer that we very much appreciated. That said, there were some disappointments, principally the lack of daily housekeeping. At no time in the reservation or check in process was I informed that there was no daily housekeeping. After I inquired about it on day 2 of our stay, I was asked if I wanted a "light touch" cleaning". Huh? If I'm paying over $300 a night for a room I expect housekeeping and don't want to ask for it. Even getting the trash emptied was beyond their capacity despite my request. The hotel needs to be forthcoming about this policy and disclose it to avoid guests' disappointments and reviews like this. Clearly they are aware of it since it is frequently mentioned in TA reviews. There are a couple of room "design" elements that also need management's attention. The pegs that serve as hooks are impractical. Some of our pegs had a tendency to fall out dropping whatever they were holding on the floor. I asked for a lamp shade for the bare light bulb on our table lamp but was told that that was the intended "design". Please. Also the Z-shaped night tables don't have much room for a book or iPad, more poor design. Didn't know what to make of the round light hanging from a rubber cord. Night light? Lastly, the hallway was quite dark and it was impossible to see into the ski lockers that management has thoughtfully provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I wouldn't go back until the above concerns are resolved.
